How the NBA Replay System is Changing the Game
The NBA, people watch it for the excitement of the game of basketball. All of the crazy plays and last second shots. But what people don't realize is how much the game has changed since the replay system came into the league.
I believe the NBA replay system has been very effective in terms of game changing plays. Now that the NBA has the technology to be able to look at plays that happened previously in order to determine a game is huge. It really is game changing and I think that it is good for the game and the league to have this technology because it can really help with the game.
"The NBA began using instant replay to review last-second shots after the 2001-2002 season. Since then, instant replay has been expanded..."(Allen). If you watch an NBA game now, there are replays and reviews all the time and many of them are game changing reviews. Back before the 2002 season, reviewing plays didn't happen. We simply just didn't have the technology for it. If a call was made, that was the call and there wasn't any changing it. That just goes to show how much the NBA has changed through technology throughout the years. The game has really evolved and we are witnessing it right now.

NBA replays however can be very controversial. Sometimes an official will look at a replay and make a call that was just wrong. I have seen this happen watching games before and it can be very frustrating especially when the team you are rooting for loses a game because of it. However, mistakes are going to happen and bad calls are going to be made. You just have to live with the results and better from them.
This type of technology is something that makes the game not only more entertaining, but fans feel like they are really into the game when a replay is shown. I know this from experience. There are many times where I would be sitting at home watching a game and giving my opinions on a replay. Even though my ideas were never heard it really connected me with the game and made it more entertaining. This replay technology is game changing not only for the players, but the fans. I think NBA replay is one of the better things that has happened to the game and I can't wait to see what the future holds for replays in the NBA.

Are there any specific examples of the kinds of changes that the replay system has had on particular games? What kinds of policies are in place related to replay in the NBA?
ReplyDeleteWhy did it take them so long to integrate this? I know that the majority of fans of every sport want live video checks on close plays. This will eliminate bad calls from refs and greatly improve the game.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think about the challenges of fouls through the replay system? Do you like that idea. I think that replay is very helpful for refs too and it changes the game in a good way.
